Prof. Dr. Mehmet TANYAŞ

Independent Board Member

He was born in Eskişehir in 1954. In 1975, he graduated from Eskişehir with a D.M.M.A. in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He received a Master's Degree in 1978 and a Doctorate in 1982 from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering.

He became a Lecturer in 1984, an Assistant Professor in 1986, an Associate Professor in 1990, and a Professor in 2006. Between 1976 and 1978, he worked as a part-time mechanical engineer in an engineering and consulting firm.

He worked as a Research Assistant between 1978 and 1983 and as a Faculty Member between 1983 and 2006 at the Department of Industrial Engineering at ITU. During this time, he held various administrative positions such as Vice Dean, Vice Department Head, Internship Commission Head, Faculty and Board Member, and retired in 2006.

He taught at various faculties and institutes of ITU and at the Air and Naval War College. Between 2006 and 2010, he headed the International Logistics Department at Okan University and opened the Logistics Management Masters and English International Logistics programs. He currently heads the Maltepe University International Trade and Logistics Management Department.

He was the Founding President of the Logistics Association (LODER) in 2001 and is currently the Chairman of the Board. In 2005, he served as the Head of the Logistics Group of the "Turkey Transportation Master Plan Strategy" Study prepared for the Ministry of Transportation. He was a consultant in the Istanbul Metropolitan Area Urban Design Logistics Group.

He was a member of the TÜSİAD Foreign Trade Working Group. He worked in the preparation team of the "Strategy Document for the Turkey Logistics Master Plan" for the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) Logistics Council. He served as a co-coordinator in the "Istanbul Logistics Master Plan (İSTLAP)" project and as a consultant in the "Turkey Logistics Master Plan" project. His areas of expertise are stock and warehouse management, logistics management, and supply chain management; he provided training, projects, and consultancy services to many institutions and organizations on these subjects. He has numerous national and international publications and is a Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and the Operations Research Association member. He is currently a member of the Transportation and Logistics Sub-Commission of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) and an Independent Board Member of Kızılay Logistics Inc. He currently works as a part-time consultant at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM YTE.
